Description:
The maiRelay service includes support for DKIM signing outbound messages. To implement support we generate client specific keys then host those on your behalf. To simplify management of key generation and changes it is necessary to implement your DKIM records as CNAME records, thus delegating serving the underlying public keys to us.
Step 1 - Configure DNS
Assuming your domain is example.co.uk, the following CNAME records would need to be implemented first:
- uksmtp1._domainkey.example.co.uk CNAME uksmtp1-example-co-uk._domainkey.uksmtp.co.uk
- uksmtp2._domainkey.example.co.uk CNAME uksmtp2-example-co-uk._domainkey.uksmtp.co.uk
Note, that we hyphenate your domain in the hosted entry, replacing any dot/period characters. For example, 'example.co.uk' would become 'example-co-uk'.
Step 2 - Request Activation
After you have established the CNAME records you should open a support ticket requesting activation of the DKIM signing for your domain - please remember to state your domain. In the background we will generate the keys and publish the public keys in DNS.
Step 3 - Activation Confirmed
Confirmation of DKIM activation will be issued 1 working day after your request is received, assuming the correct DNS entries have been created. The delay is enforced to ensure that when we start DKIM signing the necessary DNS records are fully propagated. Failing to do this could result in your emails being signed with a key that cannot be validated and therefore cause delivery issues.
